Lobo & Lira traces its origins to Lobo & Ibeas, established in 1974, a firm that earned an outstanding reputation across the full spectrum of business law. Carlos Augusto da Silveira Lobo, the firm’s founding partner, and José-Ricardo Pereira Lira, who joined in the 1980s, spearheaded a comprehensive restructuring of the practice and relaunched it, in April 2018, under the name Lobo & Lira Advogados.

The ethos and professional standards that defined Lobo & Ibeas were carried forward in their entirety into the new firm, which welcomed Sérgio Vieira, Frederico Kastrup de Faro, Joana Ribeiro, Paulo Chor, Juliana Zielinsky and Alessandro Torresi as equity partners. From the outset, they were joined by Daniela Atem, herself steeped in the Lobo & Ibeas tradition.

In 2025, Carlos Augusto da Silveira Lobo passed away, a permanent intellectual reference for the firm. Faithful to the decision made since the reorganization of the practice, Lobo & Lira preserves its name, as a tribute to Silveira Lobo’s enduring legacy, as well as its commitment to the values that have always inspired the firm’s practice.

With offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the firm is home to a team of seasoned practitioners who uphold the professional standards and values inherited from Lobo & Ibeas.

Lobo & Lira remains dedicated to corporate law, with a focused practice spanning arbitration, strategic dispute resolution, commercial contracts, corporate real estate, occupational pension schemes, shopping center law, corporate governance, and employment matters. The firm’s environmental law practice is led by Flávio Ahmed, and its tax group is headed by Maria Luiza Faveret.
